16. You don't have to be perfect to find love

You’re a nice person, well-educated, responsible and in great shape.

You’re a catch.

Maybe you’re working on a few things though.

You want to lose 5 pounds, struggle with depression or have 7 cats.

And you think that once you deal with whatever the thing is, you’ll find love.

This is never true.

There are tons of women out there who are struggling with whatever you’re worried about who have a wonderful man who adores them.

Some women are a total mess and still manage to be happily married.

That’s because love is not a reward for being perfect.

Finding love is a matter of developing the skills that are necessary to create and maintain a relationship.

You see this in other areas of life, people have awesome careers, reach their health and fitness goals, buy beautiful homes and enjoy great friends and travel.

We also see wonderful people experience terrible things.

But for the most part, when you practice a skill for long enough you will become proficient at it.

Dating isn’t much different.

Dating is a skill that can be learned and when you get better at it, you will be able to create and sustain a lasting connection.

Anyone can learn how to date.

You don’t have to be lucky or patient and you certainly don’t have to be perfect.
